A complete extension and refurbishment saw an additional storey added to this 1950’s bungalow, along with a host of improvements to the energy efficiency.

Spark Structures were engaged at concept design stage by the architect to carry out a thorough investigation of the existing structure and a feasibility study based on the proposals. This collaborative approach helped develop a solution that maximises the use of the existing building and minimises the use of additional materials, with all ground floor perimeter walls and footings reused.

The highly efficient structural scheme required only four small concrete pad foundation to support a lightweight steel frame that supports the predominantly timber extension.
